Joey Arrives Tonight!
It is very difficult to find host families, I know because I have spent the past year trying to find housing for my friend Joey. Last year I began to feel the Lord prompting me to step out…I could not figure out how this would work. I was preparing to relocate to Lagos, plus I simply did not have the strength, energy or money. I knew He would tell me the right time if this was “for real!”
Well now is the time.
Sometimes you just have to STEP UP!
We at MorningStar are blessed to have an awesome Kingdom Education school such as Comenius School for Creative Leadership. Families from around the country and the world want their children to attend CSCL. However, finding host families can really be a challenge, it is expensive, time consuming and a major responsibility to host and care for a teenager. But as the African proverb says, “it takes a village!” that is the truth. So please join the village with us as we venture out to make a great American home for our first international student from Lagos Nigeria.
I met Joey’s mom when she came to visit CSCL two years ago. They attend High Life Church and I stayed a week with them during my visit to Lagos. We have become wonderful friends since that time.
Although the opportunity to go to Lagos and develop a Kingdom Education School there is on hold, the opportunity to be a host to one of their students here is an amazing privilege!
The funds that were raised for our work in Nigeria are being directed to the rental cost of this house. We have a list of household items we are in need of and it is quickly being filled. Our greatest need are finances for our two bedroom apartment; rent, utilities and groceries. Joey’s family will be covering a small portion of the expenses each month, along with all his tuition and school needs.
We have received most everything we need, we just have a few things left:
2 Kitchen chairs
2 computer chairs
Printer
Tax receipts for donated items will be issued upon request.
Joey will be living with a lovely, Godly single mom and her son who is also new to CSCL and Fort Mill. A full layout and pictures of our “Welcome Home Party” will be the highlight of our next newsletter.
It does take a village. Your support will make a real, lasting impact in the lives of these students we are hosting.
